The Christmas classic is heading to the UAE as a musical stage adaptation you don’t want to miss.
It’s October which means Christmas is less than 100 days away. With the holiday season creeping up, it’s time to start thinking about gingerbread houses, twinkling lights, carols, and some classic festive theatre. This year, Dubai is pulling out all the stops by bringing one of the most iconic holiday tales to life on stage. Get ready to welcome How the Grinch Stole Christmas to the UAE.
Marking its UAE debut, the Dr. Seuss classic will take centre stage at the Zabeel Theatre in Jumeirah Zabeel Saray from 20 to 24 December. The musical adaptation brings the magic of the Grinch’s story to life with songs like You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch and Welcome Christmas. Narrated by Max the Dog, you can follow the Grinch as he plots to steal Christmas from the Whos of Whoville.
For those unfamiliar — or living under a rock — the Grinch is a green character made by Dr. Suess who lives in isolation atop Mount Crumpit. The festive cheer of the Whos in Whoville annoys him and he makes a plan to steal their holiday by taking away all their presents, decorations, and food. However, in the process, he learns that Christmas is about much more than material things, leading to a change of heart.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas has been a holiday classic since it was first published as a book in 1957 and has captured hearts for generations. The musical adaptation first premiered in 1994 and has also gone on to become a live-action movie, with Jim Carrey playing the titular role in the 2000 film.
