The new transport system will allow for easier commuting within the emirate.

The UAE is on a mission to make commuting easy. From expanding the metro lines in Dubai to the upcoming Etihad Rail project that will connect the emirates, a lot is happening in the region. And now, Dubai has unveiled its latest innovation in transport called the Rail Bus.

The Dubai Rail Bus is poised to ease mobility in the city. Unlike a regular bus — or train — this vehicle will be fully autonomous and run on a solar-powered transit system that aims to provide a seamless commuting experience. Designed to run on elevated tracks, it offers an alternative to commuting within the emirate, connecting to major metro stations for ease. With a speed of up to 100 km per hour, it ensures fast and efficient travel across the city.

Made entirely from 3D-printed recyclable materials, the Dubai Rail Bus features a sleek black and gold design. Each carriage fits 40 passengers, with comfortable orange seats and dedicated spaces for people of determination. Screens above the seats provide real-time updates on stops, weather, and time. It will also have Wi-Fi, so you’re connected throughout your travels.

While an official launch date has yet to be confirmed—although it’s likely that the project will be up and running within the next two years—the Rail Bus prototype is currently on display at the World Government Summit 2025 at Madinat Jumeirah. Dubai’s leaders, including Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, have reviewed the project, signalling strong governmental support.

Dubai’s Rail Bus is another bold step towards a smarter, more sustainable future. With its cutting-edge technology and seamless integration into the city’s already expansive transport system, it promises to be a game-changer for mobility. Whether you’re commuting daily or just exploring the city, the Rail Bus is set to offer a faster, cleaner and more efficient way to travel in Dubai.
