Riyadh’s JAX District is famous for its arts and culture. Now, during the Holy Month of Ramadan, it will host the Layali Biennale as part of the Diriyah Contemporary Art Biennale. Running from 23 March to 1 April from 8.30pm to 2am, it showcases a special Ramadan market.

JAX District’s Layali Biennale brings together family-friendly cultural and culinary experiences. The space boasts a range of stalls, food, drink and entertainment. Visitors can dig into hot and cold stations with traditional dishes, tapas food, smoothies, honey and cheese. The food showcases homegrown culinary creations and local produce.

JAX District’s Layali Biennale’s entertainment includes art, music and activities suitable for all ages. Look out for live oud music, henna stations and art exhibitions. Visitors have the opportunity to explore the surrounding galleries and studios of some of Saudi Arabia’s leading artists, from Ahmed Mater to Muhannad Shono.

Aya Al-Bakree, CEO of the Diriyah Biennale Foundation, explained: “We are delighted to welcome communities of all ages to the Ramadan Market this year, which promises to present Saudi Arabian culinary delights and the unique opportunity to visit live exhibitions, galleries, and studios”.

Diriyah Contemporary Art Biennale includes 177 artworks by 100 artists from over 40 countries and explores the theme of water’s essential role in sustaining life. Additional exhibitions include Alf Layla W Layla by Rashed AlShashai and Contemplation Effect at Hafez Gallery.

Tickets for JAX District’s Layali Biennale are free and must be booked in advance.
