Beat the heat and visit Aseer’s mountains for festival fun.
Abha Summer Festival sounds like a breath of fresh air. The festival takes place in Aseer, Saudi Arabia, which boasts mountains, forests and cool temperatures. Now, the lush landscapes are set to get more exciting, as a concert and carnival games have arrived.
You don’t have to wait to join the fun, as Abha Summer Festival is currently underway and runs until 24 September. The family-friendly festival takes place in Sama Abha Park, and covers a massive 126,000 square meters.
Abha Summer Festival is filled with fun attractions and activities. During the event, you can find Mifana Food Festival, which gives you the chance to dig into local and international cuisine. Plus, there are market stalls for you to pick up food, toys, souvenirs and more.
The park is transformed into a classic fairground, as you’ll find rides aplenty from a Ferris Wheel to inflatable slides. If you want to get into the carnival spirit, you can challenge your friends and family to some old-school games and pick up prizes along the way.
On the Blue Stage, you can watch new and established musicians. The festival welcomes an eclectic line-up, as recent acts include DJ Faisal, oud player Mohamed Bin Khanin, and reggae group The Legends. Plus, across the festival, you’ll be entertained by buskers and street performers.
Abha Summer Festival follows the success of Saudi Arabia’s recent festivals, Riyadh Season and Jeddah Season, and hopes to put Aseer on the map. If you’re planning to extend your trip, make sure you visit Aseer’s heritage sites: Rijal Almaa village, Jaresh archaeological site, and the Heritage House in Al Namas.
Abha Summer Festival is open from Sunday to Wednesday from 4pm to midnight, and Thursday to Saturday from 6pm to 2am. Tickets cost SAR 35 and it is free for children under 12 years old.
