Running until 8 February, this exhibition is a must-attend.

Saudi Arabia loves its fair share of manga — in fact, manga is often dubbed in Arabic before being broadcast on local television. To excite manga fans in the region, Riyadh is organising a manga exhibition called Manga Hokusai Manga.

Manga Hokusai Manga is currently underway at the Saudi Arabia Museum of Contemporary Art (SAMoCA) in Diriyah. Running until 8 February, the exhibition takes manga lovers on a journey through the very roots of this beloved art form.

Manga Hokusai Manga is a travelling exhibition that pays tribute to Katsushika Hokusai, the legendary Japanese artist whose Edo-period illustrations laid the foundation for the manga we know today. His influence is still evident in modern manga, and this exhibition brings that connection to life in a visually appealing way.

The exhibition will take you on a walk through manga history, showing the evolution of Hokusai’s original sketches from their origins to the expressive styles of today. You can also explore a collection of rare books, prints, and artworks that showcase the fusion of past and present in manga culture. The showcase emphasises Japan’s artistic legacy and how it continues to influence global storytelling and visual arts around the world.

This new Katsushika Hokusai exhibition in Diriyah offers a chance to see manga in a whole new light, beyond comics and anime. SAMoCA is making sure this exhibition offers a perfect blend of heritage and modern creativity to those attending.

So, prepare to step into the world of manga before it wraps up next weekend. Open from Monday to Thursday, from 10am, entry to the event is absolutely free.
