This year’s edition will pay tribute to the late David Lynch.

Saudi Arabia is a nation that values the arts, and cinema is no exception. While the Red Sea International Film Festival is the Kingdom’s premier film event, a more intimate cinematic experience is making a welcome return: the Wadi Cinema.

Wadi Cinema is making a triumphant return to the capital following a four-year hiatus. From 5 to 8 February, this indie film platform is bringing a stellar lineup of regional and international films to Riyadh’s JAX District. Located within the Kingdom’s first Biennale, overlooking Wadi Hanifa, this venue will become a lively cinephile hub.

This year’s program will feature an eclectic mix of films, ranging from indie gems to cinematic classics. Wadi Cinema will kick off with a tribute to the late David Lynch, who passed away earlier this year. The opening day will see The Straight Story and Eraserhead by the filmmaker, followed by a discussion on his work and impact in cinema.

Bird and Mr. Rambo will be screened on 6 February, followed by a Q&A session with the director, Khalid Mansour. All We Imagine As Light and To A Land Unknown will be shown on 7 February, whereas Rouge, Where Is The Imam, The Old School, and Don’t Get Too Comfortable will be screened on the closing day.

For those unfamiliar, Wadi Cinema is a pop-up indie movie theatre platform that debuted in 2021 as part of the Diriyah Biennale. Now, it is making its much-awaited return to Riyadh.

Tickets to Wadi Cinema are priced at SAR 30 per person.
