The upcoming event will mark the slapping competition’s international debut.
Abu Dhabi is no stranger to hosting world-class fighting championships. From the intense UFC Fight Nights to the Muay Thai Championship, the capital has seen it all. And now it’s adding another event to the roster: the Power Slap.
Power Slap 9 will take place at Space 42 Arena in Abu Dhabi on 24 October, marking the brand’s first international event out of the USA. It’s part of a larger series of programs under the Abu Dhabi Showdown Week.
Power Slap 9 will shine the spotlight on the reigning Power Slap Super Heavyweight Champion, Da Crazy Hawaiian and the No. 1 Super Heavyweight, Vasilii “Dumpling” Kamotskii. Da Crazy Hawaiian will return to defend his title against Dumpling, promising a slapping clash.
Da Crazy Hawaiian, real name Koa Viernes, is a popular name in the slap-fighting world. He initially made his mark in the SlapFIGHT Championship league, where he participated in a 20-round fight. Throughout his career, he’s delivered 13 knockouts and become a fan favorite. On the other hand, Dumpling is a Russian farmer whose viral slap-fighting videos sparked UFC’s Dana White’s interest in creating Power Slap and eventually led to a widespread interest in the sport.
For those unversed with Power Slap, it’s an American slap-fighting competition that aired on American TV. The contestants would slap each other in the face. However, the success of the show led it to become a live event that was held in Las Vegas. The ninth edition of Power Slap comes to Abu Dhabi, marking Power Slap’s international debut. Da Crazy Hawaiian and Dumpling will be the highlight of this slap-fest with more names to be announced soon.
Tickets to the event will be live soon so stay tuned at FACT for all the details.
