Sharjah Week of the Stars brings together sports stars and events. Now in its third edition, it runs from 10 to 13 January, and the line-up includes footballers from Francesco Totti to Michael Owen.
His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council are patrons of the event. Sharjah Week of the Stars has been organised by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority and the International Football Development Association.
The legendary line-up of stars includes the former French footballer Francesco Totti and English footballer Michael Owen. Plus, Alejandro ‘Papu’ Gomez, Christian Panucci, David Trezeguet, Essam El-Hadary, Paolo Maldini and Rivaldo.
Sharjah’s Week of the Stars’ will include a 6vs6 football match with international football legends, e-games that showcase the combination of sports and technology, Footgolf tournament blending football and golf. Plus, there will be a range of cultural tours that bring to life Sharjah’s history.
HE Khaled Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, explained: “This aims to strengthen the position of sports tourism as a growing sector globally, in alignment with the vision and directives of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. Sharjah places great importance on hosting and organising globally resonant sports events, as they provide a unique opportunity for visitors to discover the emirate’s distinctive sporting, cultural, and heritage offerings through a variety of activities and events.”
