This brand-new addition will welcome visitors from September.
The capital is about to welcome a stunning new attraction. Butterfly Gardens Abu Dhabi, located next to The National Aquarium at Al Qana, is set to enchant residents and visitors alike when it opens later this year.
Step inside and you’ll find yourself in a fully immersive, nature-driven experience. Within the climate-controlled bio-domes, over 10,000 butterflies drift through lush tropical landscapes that mirror ecosystems from around the world. Wander along a thoughtfully designed path and experience these delicate creatures up close as they flutter freely around you, creating a magical escape into nature at the heart of the city.

The sanctuary will be divided into two zones — Asia and the Americas — each highlighting native species from its respective region. Alongside the butterflies, expect to encounter two-toed sloths, caiman crocodiles, and American insects in the Americas dome, while the Asian dome will feature bearcats, koi carp, and a wide range of Asian insects.
The Eden Cafe is where you can experience an oasis of tranquillity. Picture a cascading waterfall, a serene koi pond, white peacocks strutting around, and the opportunity to have high tea with butterflies.
The new attraction will promote education, with the gardens designed to engage visitors of all ages. An educational highlight will be the dwarf honey bee exhibit, where you can learn more about these fascinating insects and their important contributions to our ecosystem. The venue will also be open to school trips, and plans are in place to introduce photography classes.
“With The Butterfly Gardens Abu Dhabi, our goal is to authentically recreate natural habitats and foster a deeper understanding of our ecosystems,” said Paul Hamilton, General Manager of The Butterfly Gardens Abu Dhabi. “It’s more than just an attraction — it’s a nature reserve designed to inspire meaningful engagement with the natural world.”
While you might be eager to spread your wings and explore Butterfly Gardens Abu Dhabi, the grand opening is expected in September of this year.
