Sssh – the venue is located inside a grocery store in Al Wasl Square.
FACT loves a secret restaurant. So, we were excited to uncover a new Pan Asian restaurant inside a grocery store. Fifth Flavor is located in Al Wasl Square, and it has one of the most unusual entrances we’ve ever seen.
Fifth Flavor in Dubai is open for walk-ins only, and no reservation is required. The exterior includes the white logo on black paint. Lookout for the cute logo of a dumpling with arms, legs and a smiling face, and the statement “this way”.
On the outside, the venue looks like a simple shop selling Asian food and drinks. However, on closer inspection, all is not what it seems. The drinks cooler opens up to a secret entrance. The sign says “pull” and leads down a dark corridor, which opens up to the main restaurant.
Curious diners will be rewarded with Fifth Flavor. The venue boasts a minimalist design with neutral brown to beige tones across the tables and walls, green chairs and sofas. The shelves include books on Asian cooking and travel. We spotted My Shanghai, Noma 2.0. and The Whole Fish Cookbook. Plus, the shelves are filled with diffusers, fish-shaped sculptures and potted plants.
Fifth Flavor’s dishes are superb for sharing, and span Pan Asian cuisine. Plus, one of the signature drinks is the Iced Tea, which is served in a bag with a straw.
Fifth Flavor in Dubai is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 6pm to 11.30pm.
