Turn the lights off in MARQ Dubai, as it shines just like a star. If you recognise the lyrics – albeit our adapted one – then you’ll be excited to hear that R&B superstar Ne-Yo will be performing at the nightclub’s launch party. The grand opening takes place on Saturday, 27 May, and looks set to be a showstopper.
Located in Dubai Marine Beach Resort Hotel in Jumeirah 1, MARQ Dubai celebrates hip-hop, R&B and techno music. Ne-Yo, real name Shaffer Chimere Smith, hails from Arkansas, United States. He is of African American and Chinese descent. His stage name was coined by the producer Big D Evans, and is a nod to The Matrix’s character Neo.
Ne-Yo shot to fame with his hit songs Because of You, Closer and So Sick. Over his career, he has won three Grammy Awards and collaborated with the likes of Jamie Foxx, Jay-Z and Mariah Carey. We’re expecting him to bring his soulful voice, signature moves and new numbers to the event.
MARQ Dubai boasts LED screens, lasers and a state-of-the-art sound and lighting system. Look out for the themed nights, which start from 10pm. On Thursdays, Urban Vibe mixes Afro beats, hip-hop and R&B, and ladies can enjoy unlimited drinks and a set menu for AED 190. On Friday, Secret Code is dedicated to techno beats. On Saturdays, Disrupt brings together the best of hip-hop music.
MARQ Dubai is open from 10pm to 4am.
